Download The TBSS Conference APP

The TBSS conference app is the best way to stay updated during the event. You’ll be able to keep track of your schedule & event locations, read about our speakers and sponsors, share content, and communicate with other attendees. Announcements will also be made via the app to keep you abreast of any last-minute changes.

 

How to install the app:

  • A link to the conference app, Yapp, was sent to you in an event reminders notification that came from Eventbrite (emailed on June 13th). Tap or input that link into your mobile browser on your iOS or Android device.
  • You’ll be directed to your app store to download Yapp, if you don’t already have it on your device.
  • Once Yapp is downloaded, open it. Tap the “Download An Existing App” button and the app will install automatically.

 

How to claim/add your profile:

  • Open the True Blue Sister Summit app inside of the Yapp app
  • Navigate to the Attendees page
  • To claim your profile: Navigate to your Person record then tap the “This is me” button that is floating over the tab bar at the bottom
  • To add your profile: If you Person record does not exist, tap the “Add my profile” button that is floating over the tab bar at the bottom of the Attendees page
  • If you have yet to fill out a profile, the profile editor will allow you to add some details

Attire

Attire for TBSS events is as follows

  • Wednesday, Welcome Reception with Dr. Gayle – Southern Chic
  • Thursday, Spelman Spirit Day – Wear your best Spelman paraphernalia
  • Thursday, Line Dancing Party – Cute & comfortable denim and Spelman bling
  • Friday,  Shades of Blue – Wear your favorite shade of blue and pack a fascinator or hat to wear for the Queen Charlotte Luncheon. A hat vendor will be on site 6/20 if you need to make a purchase. A group photo will be taken immediately before the luncheon.
  • Friday,  SpelHouse Mixer – Chic attire
  • Saturday – Business Casual
  • Sunday,  Sisterhood Brunch – White attire tradition.

Spelhouse mixer

Please help us with headcounts by submitting an RSVP if you plan to attend the SpelHouse Mixer on Friday, June 21st.  There is no additional charge to attend. The cost is covered by your summit registration.

hotel Parking

Self-parking is $24.00 per day and Valet parking is $34.00 per day. Parking is covered but not secured with In/Out privileges available.

wear your badge

Your name badge guarantees your entry into all TBSS events. Make sure you have it with you at all times.

BOOK SIGNING WITH TINA MCELROY ANSA & TAYARI JONES

After the Keynote Conversation, both Tina McElroy Ansa and Tayari Jones will be signing copies of their works. Books will be available for purchase on site but you may also bring your own copies to be signed.

Spelman Legacies

Are you part of a Spelman legacy? Send us photos of you and with your legacies for a special slideshow presentation. All photos should be sent to Pamela Cooper. For Pam’s email address, check your Eventbrite event reminder email sent out on June 13th.

OTHER EVENT LOCATIONS

While the majority of TBSS events will take place at the host hotel, there are two events that are not on site.

 

The Welcome Reception with Dr. Gayle will be at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture located at 551 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202. It is an 8-minute walk from the hotel and an even shorter Uber/Lyft ride away.

 

The SpelHouse Mixer will be at Society at 229 located at 229 S Brevard St, Charlotte, NC 28202. It is a 4-minute walk from the hotel.
